Pioneer DJ Opus-Quad

The latest standalone DJ controller from Pioneer DJ, the Opus-Quad has features as unique as it’s looks. 

With two control decks and mixer with a club style layout teamed with 3 displays including a 10 inch high resolution screen, Opus-Quad is comprehensive standalone, all-in-one controller. 

The striking new design of the Opus-Quad is a great fit for bars, venues, weddings or the centrepiece of any home.  The matte black casing with rose gold accents and the different form factor make this a stunning piece of equipment to look at, however there is so much more to this controller than the looks. 

Dual Layer decks

Each deck has a new style jog wheel with tension adjust and minimal in jog display. 8 Hot cue buttons placed along the top of the wheel for instant recall of cue and loop points. 

For the first time on a Pioneer DJ player, loops can be set and adjusted using a dial to increase or decrease the loop length. 

A small display above each deck shows essential information including overall waveform, album artwork, track time, BPM key and loop size. 

Stunningly smooth lighting around the jog wheels help easily identify which deck is active. These colours can be fully customised in the utilities menu to suit your preference. 

Most of the other controls are familiar with pitch control, key, sync, loop and of course the familiar circular play and cue buttons in their usual positions. 

Mixer conrols

The mixer section of the Opus-Quad is again familiar to users of the DJM series mixers and easy enough to navigate for new users. 4 channels offering 3 band EQ on each as well as Sound Color FX controls. The usual Pioneer DJ colour FX are present ; Space, Dub Echo, Crush, Sweep, Noise and the classic Filter. 

Beat FX are present, with a selection of 14 effects assignable to each channel or the master output. These effects are the classic selection; Delay, Echo, Ping Pong, Spiral, Reverb, Trans, Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Pitch, Slip Roll, Roll, Vinyl Brake and Helix. 

Most of the control for the effects is done via the large 10 inch touch screen. Scroll through the list of effects, even add you favourite four to the bank for quick selection 

One of the best features of the screen on the Opus-Quad is the ability to use it as an XY touchpad for the effect. Easily control the depth and amount of effect by moving your finger across the screen. 

There are 2 mic inputs, the first has top mounted control with 3 band eq and talker selection. The second has the same level of controls and options but is mounted at the front of the controller.  Both mics have an on screen mic mixer which include the option to activate the feedback reducer with heavy and light options, ideal for those tight setups or when someone making a speech gets too close to the speakers! Both mic inputs are on ‘combi’ XLR / Jack connectors.

Screen

The 10 inch screen not only shows you large amounts of information but also acts as the control centre of the Opus Quad. Browsing and searching for tracks is made quick and easy thanks to more text being visible and fast on screen keyboard to find tracks. Navigate and load using the new joystick control. 

It can also display waveforms from all 4 decks loaded at the same time, you can chose between two large waveforms for the active decks or 4 smaller ones to show all of them. 

Opus-Quad has a clean and uncluttered layout thanks to many controls being moved to the touchscreen, including the beat fx selection and channel assignment as well as mixer input selection. 

Sources 

There are 3 USB A sockets for connecting storage devices like memory sick or hard drive. For the first time on a Pioneer DJ standalone unit, the Opus-Quad can play from USB sources on all four channels at the same time. 

Input source select for channels 3 and 4 are controlled on screen. You can easily flick between the attached USB sources and bluetooth or analogue line and phono inputs. 

Subscribers to Rekordbox Cloud can link the Opus Quad to their account over WiFi and access their entire music collection over the air. 

You can also record your mix back to a USB stick, even if you’re playing from it. 

Zone output

Opus Quad can send two different signals to two different outputs at the same time thanks to it’s zone output. For example you can play USB sources out of the master output and bluetooth or line through the zone output. 

If standalone is not enough for you, or you have a visiting DJ with their laptop, the Opus Quad is Rekordbox DJ ready, Searto DJ Pro will be going later in 2023 and the new Rekordbox iOS and Android app will connect over WiFi to give plug ’n play control the the most popular software for DJ’s.
