A new, properly punchy motor. At the heart of the MK4 is a newly developed brushless DC motor, an 8-pole, 3-phase design that produces 2.5 kg/cm of torque and reaches full speed in under a second. That torque figure sits in club-standard territory, and it matters in practice: it gives you instant, stable starts and holds the platter firmly against your hand during back-cueing and scratching. Reloop has also tuned the motor to keep wow and flutter low, so the pitch stays rock-steady through long blends.
Built to survive a loud stage. The chassis has been re-engineered with better internal damping and new shock-absorbing feet. On a bass-heavy stage or a cramped club booth, that isolation is what stops the needle skipping and the low end feeding back through the deck. It is a turntable designed to keep playing cleanly in exactly the environments that trip cheaper decks up.
Instantly familiar to play. Reloop has kept the tried-and-tested layout, so anyone moving across from an earlier RP-series deck or a Technics will feel at home straight away. Pitch control for both precision and mischief. A smooth, clickless pitch fader lets you make fine tempo adjustments without a stepped feel, and you can switch between three ranges: a tight plus or minus 8 percent for careful beatmatching, 16 percent for more room, or a huge 50 percent Ultra Pitch for dramatic creative transitions and sound design. A dedicated pitch reset button snaps you straight back to zero, and a reverse switch opens the door to more experimental play.
Three speeds and a proper tonearm. Playback covers 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm, so everything from modern dance singles to vintage shellac is fair game. The statically balanced, S-shaped tonearm comes with a hydraulic lift and anti-skating for accurate tracking and gentler treatment of your records, and its universal SME connection means you can fit the cartridge and headshell you prefer.
Battle-ready, and ready for anything. A recessed rear connection terminal lets the deck sit flush against a mixer in a vertical battle setup without cables getting in the way, while gold-plated phono outputs protect signal quality. An internal switching power supply handles voltage anywhere in the world, which is one less thing to think about for touring DJs.
Vinyl feel, digital library. If you would rather not carry crates, the MK4 works happily as a control surface. Connect it to a DVS-enabled mixer or audio interface with timecode vinyl, and you keep the hands-on feel of real turntables while playing from a digital music collection.
One thing to budget for. As with most decks at this level, the cartridge and stylus are sold separately, so factor those into your spend rather than expecting to play straight out of the box. That aside, this is a lot of turntable for the money, capable enough for demanding turntablism yet accessible to an aspiring pro building a first serious vinyl rig.
