Would this unit be compatible with the KAM iLink 60G laser machine for custom light show control?
Checking th DMX instruction set from the manual, I would not recommend this device to be used to DMX control the Kam Laser.
The rechargeable Chavet D-Fi units use a "burst" mode transmission to achieve the battery life, this means that the DMX signal is "stepped" rather than providing a constantly updated "smooth" signal. The net result is that they are no good for systems that require smooth dimming or smooth axis motion control directly from a DMX control desk. There are other Wi-Fi products that are similar and do not have this issue, but they are generally larger in size and require a source of external mains/battery power.
The D-Fi XLR works fine for products where Only a switching operation is required...ie On/off operation or step changes where there is no dimming.. like static up-lighting, or if a simple DMX mode change on an intellignet fixture is required. The KAM 60G DMX instructions use the external controller to position the beam scan, so going to the D-Fi from a standard DMX cable would be expected to result in jump and judder of the beam as opposed to smooth scan/rotation.
