I have flitted between several subs over the years, but can honestly say these are by far the best. I recently was at a large venue, not really pushing them, and I popped to the men's room, which was approximately 450 feet away down a corridor in the opposite corner of the bullding etc, and I could still hear the bass rumbling away! and I was setup right down the other end of the room! Yes they are heavy at 50kgs, but with the wheels the lifting is minimal, unless you go to a venue with stairs! I work alone, and have no issues with them at all! I would also recommend the cover, as it not only protects it during transportation but you also have the option of leaving the cover on during your set, because there is this flap on the front that folds up to expose the ports. The only issue I will say, is that the wheels don't have brakes, so just beware if you leave them unattended!
The bass output on this is mad. I ran one of these with my DXR15's and it was great. Ideally youd want to get a couple if you were running them for heavily bass reliant genres such as deep house / jungle / bassline. When using this on 120hz crossover i felt that the mids from my DXR's were a clearer and punchier. Do reccomend getting these if you have a place to store them!
WOW. the DXS18 can only be described as a beast. if you just want some "fill in"lows or you really want to bang it out then this could just be the sub you're looking for. be warned though it is big, check the measurements first, especially if you're buying a pair! i changed from another brand's 15 inch speakers to one of these & a pair of DXR12's & i can only describe the difference as "next level". where before i had a reasonably forceful bass & a crashy top end i now have a wonderful deep bass fill with a massive punch & the DXR12's are just so much more musical the the old 15's which has resulted in an awesome sounding setup with the big DSR18 as its beating heart. i had read that bandpass type boxes were one note wonders but i've tried mine with some real early 90's rave bass tones & it was much better than expected. coped really well. so tempted to add another but i don't think my back would thank me. at 50 kilos its not light but its a sub. a hard hitting heavyweight one at that. love it :)
Awesome bit of kit. Never even broke a sweat turning them up. Work well with the twelve inch tops. If your going to purchase these subs I would highly recommend the covers. They are a great accompanyment
