Absolutely incredible

This is the first wireless mic i have bought for myself. I was a little bit worried that this mic uses the same frequency band as wi-fi and when i see 'licence-free' i assume 'interference'. But upon doing plenty of research and knowing the history of the brand i took a chance on it. I will never look back.I went for the 2.4ghz over anything else because as much as i was unsure about licence free, i didn't like the hassle of maintaining a licence, and VHF makes me cringe with how unreliable it is. I went for the 845 Capsule as i have used this capsule on a wired Senny and it sounds really clear with good feedback rejection. What comes with it: You get the 845-s wireless microphone, the ew-d1 receiver, plug for the receiver, a battery case for 2 x AA batteries (2 batteries included but last a couple hours). case, manuals. Build quality: The microphone is built solid (as expected) but unsure about how solid. Never dropped it yet, thankfully! no movement or creaking from it and it's slightly weighted so gives you that assurance. The receiver, again, built really well, the buttons are solid with no movement. Sound quality/signal: So the capsule (845) is the same as that on a wired 845 so if you have used that before then you already know how this sounds. There are definitely clearer mics out there, but for professional singers you can get away with this, i have anyway! It's crisp and there's no popping, and with the built in EQ on the receiver you can change the sound of this anyway. The signal strength is awesome and surprisingly reliable. I use this mic in a pub with public cloud wi-fi and honestly expected this to be almost unusable. Although the range drops significantly to about 10m i've never had a dropout with it. i normally use this mic when i'm going to get the lights turned on at the bar. I take the mic with me so if i'm not back behind the booth by the time the last song ends i can just announce the end from where i'm stood. Some useful Features: - EQ - 7 band eq to fine tune the sound - Walk test - a feature which displays a signal level on both the receiver and transmitter so you can walk around the performance space to see how strong the signal is there. - Mute switch disable - The microphone has a mute switch, you can however set the mute switch to be disabled from the receiver. For example, if somebody else is using the mic and you don't want them playing around with the mute switch you can just disable it to have the mic active no matter where the switch is. - rename the mic. useful if you own a couple or more (personal mic and three performance mics for example) you can give each microphone an individual name so you know which mic is paired with which receiver. with the rotary knob on the receiver it's quite a quick process too. - control via WSR app - an app that you can download to phone or tablet to make control of the receiver even easier. you get a graphic EQ, naming mics is quicker with a keyboard, you can see all of your mics with their status (battey life, mute, eq, etc) on one screen or see each one individually in detail. Everything can be adjusted on the app, to use the app you need to connect the receiver to a wi-fi router vie ethernet then connect your device with the app to that router. - line/mic output, you can adjust the gain of the output from the receiver or change the output from mic to line (0db). i use the headset version of this mic at work and the transmitter has a 3.5mm jack input so it's possible to plug a phone into it and play music through the trnsmitter to the receiver, and with the line out it can be a professional line input into your mixer without having to boost it manually. - Auto gain - A feature that adjusts the gain itself depending on how loud the singer/speaker is. can be turned on or off. - status screen on mic - let's you see the microphone's battery life, signal strength, name and mute switch position on an lcd screen on the mic itself. not baqcklit though which is a bit of a let down. - easy pair - a feature that allows you to power the mic and receiver on and, if not already automatically paired, press the pair button on both units and they will pair themselves. There is so much more to this set that i haven't mentioned, it's so practical and as mentioned before i'm yet to see this mic drop out even slightly. It's so reliable and i don't even have to pay to use it like i would with UHF. I have bought the battery pack (sold seperately) for 50 to increase the battery life. Using good quality Duracell batteries this will last 4-5 hours. With the battery pack you can get about 8-10 hours out of it and it has a micro USB input with led battery status indicator for simple recharging, definitely worth buying that with it. These units are also rack mountable with rack ears that are sold separately. In conclusion. a top quality mic that is reasonably priced and will surprise you every time you use it with how incredible it is. Would highly recommend.
