Fantastic delivery from DJ Kit and superb sound straight out of the box. Coped well with a room full of 130 people. Will be after the 15 inch version next.
I've recently bought a pair of these Titan 12 passive speakers based on their compact dimensions and light weight. They are for vocal and general PA duty with a live band and I've now used them on some gigs. I was prepared to accept a little loss of performance compared with my EV SX300E speakers, but to my delight I have found that the Titans actually come pretty close in bass response and high-end clarity while if anything sounding marginally smoother. I haven't yet needed to switch in the 3dB boost for the HF driver but it's nice to know it's available if required.
The fractional reduction on paper in power handling and efficiency compared with the EVs really isn't noticeable at all in real-world use. The cabinet design also makes the Titans easier to handle while setting up and transporting.
The tailor-made Tourbag covers are great too and I'll review those separately.
Altogether the Wharfedale Titan 12 passive speaker cabinets seem to be an immense bargain, seeming directly comparable in overall performance to the industry-standard SX300E pair from EV, while being a wee bit smaller, a little lighter and easier to handle at about half the price. What's not to like?
I bought a pair of these to use with a power amp and desk as a replacement for my 15" keyboard combo. My primary reason for buying was to reduce the weight I had to carry to gigs (the combo weighed just short of 30Kg!). These speakers weigh about 11Kg each so after reading a some very favourable reviews I bought them. Weight wise I'm very happy. I can easily carry one in each hand without any strain. However, while sound quality was also a priority I was literally blown away by what these wee beauties can put out! Considering that these are only 12" LF units the bass is superb! A LOT beefier than I was expecting! The clarity is brilliant. The horns are perhaps just a little shrill, but that's easily compensated for at the mixer. I wish I had bought these years ago! My digital piano (Pianoteq 5) sounds so much fuller, richer and authentic than it did on my combo, and I'm hearing aspects of the other synth sounds that the combo didn't reveal. I can whole heartedly recommend these speakers and would buy them again if I had to!
Superb sound. Not too heavy to lift. Check diameter of your existing speaker poles before purchase otherwise buy new too ensure a good fit. Speaker covers could do with handle holds so they can be left on during transit. Otherwise a good professional looking product that packs a good sound punch.
Had these installed in a local school, brilliant sound and amazingly loud for the size of them. No need for bass bins in the venue as these did a great job on their own.
