TRAKTOR KONTROL S2 condenses the club-standard software and hardware system into an ultra-portable form. The USB-powered system has been equipped with upsized jog wheels that offer more responsive touch-sensitivity and give DJs pinpoint control when scratching and nudging.
Both the TRAKTOR KONTROL S2 and TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 have undergone a complete redesign, with a visual language and build approach that aligns closely with TRAKTOR’s club-standard heritage. The two systems also feature 16 RGB-backlit pads for triggering samples and loops, as well as for setting and triggering cue points. Both systems also provide full integration with Mixer FX in TRAKTOR PRO 3, with a dedicated control section on each channel.

Patience is a virtue
If you're anything like me, when we get a bit of shiny new kit we all want to play with it straight away. I bought this because I couldn't get hold of any of the smaller Pioneer controllers however I have not been disappointed. Build quality is superb. Love the full size jogwheels too. The software is rock solid and far better than Serato or Rekordbox but it does require a lot of patience and time to set up. Tips for you. If you are running anything less than Windows 10 you MUST download the drivers from the Native Instruments website. If you have downloaded the demo version to try it out, uninstall it first as it can cause software conflicts. Don't expect to be able to analyse tracks very quickly as it takes ages. Follow the instructions on set up to the letter and don't skip anything. Finally make sure the USB cable is pushed fully home in the back of the controller. I love this bit of kit. So much so I am now a convert and saving for the Kontrol S4. Make the switch, You'll be glad you did. Great service from djkit.com too

Fantastic bit of kit
Having used a very basic setup with a Traktor Z1 and my laptop, I'm really loving the ease of use that comes with the S2. Solid materials, intuitive functionality and good DJ software underneath it. Really impressed

Very good quality EQS for the price :O
I was hesitant when deciding what dj controller to buy because for me I dont particularly like effects over my music and mixing. its all about the raw essence of 2 tunes being mixed together with nowhere to hide behind but I didnt want just a stand alone mixer so it was a choice between a top of the range controller the pioneer xdjxz which is great of course, or a lower cost controller.as brilliant as the pioneer is I asked myself do I really need to spend that much when im all about the eqs. the answer was no so taking that into account and along with the fact ive always used traktor software and dont get on with other dj software, the choice was this Traktor control s2 mk3 which im very impressed with, it has very good quality eqs for the price.ive done the right thing by sticking with what I feel works for me, traktor.

So I know nothing about any of this and am looking to get this for my husband. It says can be used with an iPhone/ipad. He has a Samsung and a HP (their version of the surface pro!) would this still be suitable for him as he has no Apple products?

This only supports Apple iOs not Android so unfortunately won't work with Samsung and HP. Will work with a normal windows laptop though.
