Equinox Butterfly Quad

I have been looking to purchase a pair of these sweeper style lights for a while, there are a number available now from several manufacturers. Having looked at everything available I opted for the Equinox Butterfly Quad and I am pleased that I did. These units are sturdy and solid. Having seen the other manufacturers versions this cannot be said for all types of this lighting unit. The Omega bracket keeps these units steady and avoids "sagging" when mounted vertically on a speaker pole. There are a huge number of programmes available (I haven't checked them all out yet) but show 0 gives you a mix of everything. The beams from these units are very bright indeed and will be adequate for larger venues. Sweeping movements are smooth, colours are vibrant. There is the now normal master/slave option allowing a co-ordinated light show. Looks great with a little haze or smoke, but also gives a great moving wash effect if smoke or haze is not possible. The only down side I have noticed is that the microphone (used in sound active mode) is very sensitive and even when set to the lowest setting (i.e. 1) still picks up almost every sound. That said I would still recommend these over any other compact sweeping fixture, yes they are more expensive but they are worth the extra cost and don't suffer the "sag" issues of other similar units. Loses one star due to the mic sensitivity.
