New Products from Chauvet DJ, FXarray Q5, Rotosphere Q3 and more!
So far 5 new products from Chauvet DJ and I’ve managed to play with 4 already. Luckily Djkit is always quite high up the list of retailers that gets to see and test new products before their official release. So let’s have a look at them individually.
Chauvet FXarray Q5
Quad-Colour LED wash light
The Chauvet FX array Q5 is a small lightweight unit that has a lot of inbuilt programs. The unit does mostly washes but has the 2 strips of extra bright Led’s top and bottom that it uses alongside your main 5 lenses. Very pleasing to look at as it cycles through patterns and dances to sound.
Chauvet Rotosphere Q3
Mirror ball simulator with quad-colour LEDs
The Rotosphere Q3 at first looks exactly the same as other giant balls that spin on the market. However when I put some smoke out the unit did start to act differently. For example the selling point of this unit is that you can control different zones of the ball independently. Meaning that now the ball doesn't have to be the same colour all over, you can have zones of colour. When tested it was easy to see the different colours from different lenses. Also the beams of light are much thinner and more focused giving that more pinspot design. I think this will be a definite contender for the Starburst and Stratosphere.
Chauvet Festoon
Festoon is a dynamic outdoor-rated party décor light
The Chauvet Festoon could easily be the new wedding hire item of 2017. Out the box you get 15 metres of bulbs and your control box. Each bulb can be controlled individually, meaning lots of ways to chase and control how the light travels from end to end. Looks good in person and well built, but will be customer see the same potential I can. Will the price be right to be able to add this onto the hire fleet.
Chauvet FXpar 3
Dynamic and compact multi-effect fixture
The one I didn't see in person is the FX par 3. So lets guess what this does, normal lenses obviously for the uplighting and wash effect. Then the 3 strips of led across the centre, which seem to wash and also be able to flash. Then the outside ring of white led’s for wash and blinding effects. Looking at the pictures it seems well made and quite robust. Once I get to see one I will comment some more.
Chauvet Intimidator Hybrid 140SR
140W Moving Head with Zoom
Lastly the Intimidator hybrid moving 140SR moving head. Which has some amazing features, the fixture morphs from spot to beam to wash instantly. Dual prisms and dual gobo wheels. When this was on demo the effects were very impressive. With the prisms you really can make some star, spinning effects. The gobo zoomed from 50 cm across to nearly 3 metres. Then the wash which doesn't have to be one colour, you can creep in the next colour mixing your own colours effortlessly. Yes its big and yes it costs a bit of money, but 2 of these on podiums can be made to look as big or small of your desire.
