Akai - Pro DJ Equipment and MIDI Controllers

Akai were one of the first companies to introduce affordable hardware samplers in the mid 1980's and their collaboration with Roger Linn is one of the most famous pieces of equipment ever to grace the world of Hip Hop production and sample-based beat making - the revolutionary Akai MPC. These days, the company is responsible for the design and development of an entire range of cost effective MIDI controllers, DJ turntables and real-time effects processors that provide high quality, cutting-edge features at highly affordable prices.

Next Generation MPC Products

Expanding on the success of the MPC series, Akai has recently released a brand new range of next generation MPC products including the highly compact, slim-line MPC Studio, the MPC Renaissance controller and the MPC Touch music production centre - which is the world's first ever multi-touch controller offering unrivalled ease-of-use with an exceptionally fast workflow and a large, hi-resolution display. The MPC Renaissance is another groundbreaking product that retains the best loved features from the original MPC units such as classic transport controls, the legendary MPC Swing function and MPC Note Repeat. It also includes a 128-track software sequencer that is compatible with Mac and PC platforms, offering unrivalled sound, tactile control options and a built-in audio interface, which offers authentic analogue modelling of historical classics such as the MPC3000, MPC60 and Emu's SP1200.

Hardware USB Controllers for Serato DJ

In addition to their growing range of affordable MIDI controllers, samplers and beat-making products, Akai have also released an exciting range of DJ equipment that includes hardware controllers for Serato DJ and Ableton Live. Serato DJ users will feel instantly at home with both the AFX and AMX controller series, which both offer intuitive and instant access to a full range of DJ parameters over 4 virtual decks via a single USB port. The AFX boasts 9 touch-activated knobs for EQ kills and real-time effect tweaking, with 8 velocity-sensitive trigger pads and 10 pad modes for jumping between cue points and song looping. The AMX ships with a full version of Serato DJ and offers 2 line faders, a pro-grade crossfader in the form of the adjustable mini innoFADER™ and dedicated cue mix and cue gain knobs which can be used for custom headphone mixes that you can monitor via the 3.5mm headphone output.
